About This Site

My goal with this site is to provide dobro instruction for players of all levels that is easy to access and navigate. I have optimized the TAB for reading on a screen, and it should work well on a computer or tablet, in landscape or portrait mode. I've developed a method to embed tablature in my videos, and the videos can be slowed down easily. I also provide download links for those who would like to store the files on their computer or print the sheet music.

The website is funded by your donations. I like the donation model, because you can try as many different lessons as you like, and you don't have to deal with passwords, encryption, or downloading files. Just come to the site and start playing your dobro!

Throughout the site, you will see a little "donate" button. If you would like to make a donation, click that button and send me a little something to keep this site going. The button looks just like this.

Thanks, and happy picking!

About Joe Wilson

I am probably best known for playing with longtime Michigan favorites, Steppin' In It. With Steppin' In It, I have played many of the nation's top concerts and festivals, including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Wheatland, Blissfest, Old Settlers Festival, the Woody Guthrie festival, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, and Live at Mountain Stage. I've been a full time member of Steppin' In It since 2000. Over the years, I've been lucky enough to perform with Wayne Hancock, Bill Kirchen, and Billy Strings, to name a few.

In 2016, I started working on the "Dobro School", a collection of dobro instructional videos. I'm proud of what I've done so far, but I have a long way to go, and I'm always trying to add more material for the dobro enthusiast!

I still perform with various groups around Michigan and teach private lessons both at my home in Lake Leelanau and over the internet via zoom.
